i am going to put a cam in. I found a cam install write up but no luck on a write up on putting new springs on with the heads on.. would any of you know of one?
I also used something comparable to KD 921 to remove the springs but had to turn it upside down and do it with the intake off the car. Otherwise, buy the tool from thunder racing.
Pop the extra $$ for the crane cams tool, you'll be glad you did. Those leverage tools are fine when the heads are off, but not practical for #7&8 cylinder. I used the TDC method. You can do 2 cylinders at a time.

Setting each cylinder to it's top dead center brings the piston to it's highest point in the cylinder, and ensures both valves are closed. This allows you to remove the valve springs without dropping a valve, since they can only drop a little until they contact the piston. Since it sounds like you do not have a service manual, I would not recommend the TDC method.
