Default How much is air bridge limiting me...?

I am curious what some may think of my combo being limited by the stock air bridge. I have talked to several tuners, like lingenfelter's, etc., and they seem to think it is not a limiting factor. However, if any of you have seen the factory air bridge on the new 427 Z06's, you will not that it totally dwarfs the stock C5 bridge by a HUGE margin! I have talked to Tony M. and he has said he runs the Haltech Stinger and feels I am losing quite a bit. To review, I am running a Blackwing, 85mm MAF from a C5 Z06, FAST 90mm intake w/ 90mm LS2 TB, AFR CNC'ed 225's and 427 cubes. But I still have the stock C5 airbridge. The LS2 TB is also stock with no internal work like removing the "ridge" in the bore. The C5 Z06 MAF does have the screen removed, but no other mods to it have been done. But....in order to get the Haltech unit, I must buy the WHOLE THING!! Air filter and air bridge. For around $400.00 or so. Since I already have the blackwing, I am not in the market for a CAI, just a higher flowing airbridge, IF it will help. Your ideas/.02 would be appreciated. Thanks.

LINGENFELTER has been a respected name in performance for many years...they probably have good reason to support their thoughts.
They could just as easily sold you something.

Which Halltech are you looking at? The one my father has on his Z16 Z06 was only $230ish.

I'd just buy a complete kit that fits your 90mm LS2 TB and sell the blackwing on here to recoupe.

I am not sure which Haltech unit it is. When I was talking to Tony M., he told me he felt the Haltech "Stinger" was probably the best airbridge for my set-up, so I assumed there was only one model made for my 2000 C5, the "Stinger". Maybe not, eh? If that's the case, I am lost as to which Haltech set-up it is that Tony was talking about. Help!!!

Thanks, Steve. Ya' learn something new every day, they say, and I did today, as I was NOT aware that the Z06's MAF's came sans screen. Thanks, again.

I believe that some of the color pics I have seen of Tony M.'s C5 have this same color bridge, red, if color alone means anything significant. Maybe Tony himself could chime in, if he's available to post tonight or sometime soon. Thanks, guys.

Hmm, I was all ready to look into a new airbridge until I saw MPM IV's post. 600whp and 440ci definitely demands a LOT more than my stock cube 420rwhp setup....if he can put down those kind of numbers with a stock airbridge...I don't see ANY reason to buy an aftermarket...I'll save that $200-400 for a mod that will actually DO something like Nitrous or a different cam.

That said, Tony M is HIGHLY respected in the auto community and if he says that it might be restricting YOUR setup, then I would explore that. The best thing to do is back to back dyno pulls with and without the aftermarket airbridge since its so easy to swap. If you can find a friend that will loan one to you for dyno purposes...it would give everyone some data points on if the airbridge is a worthwhile upgrade. MFG claims are all well and good but I like to see "real world" results.

I'd port the throttle body and be done with it - you've got a killer system!

I guess I'm like a lot of people in that I have never seen a definitive "break-point" as to the stock air bridge vs horsepower. I would like to.

I do have one question and that is why are you running an 85mm MAF and not the LS2 90mm MAF? Seems like that may be a potential source of airflow "restriction' too.
