I take it you are referring to a MAF Translator.....

What it does is plug-in between the MAF sensor and the car's PCM. It manipulates the signal from the MAF that is headed to the PCM to tell the car how much air is entering the engine so it knows how much fuel to inject. The MAF Translator can either trick the PCM into thinking there is MORE air entering than there actually is so that the PCM adds more fuel, or it can trick it into thinking there is less air entering so that less fuel is injected.

This allows you to dial in your Air/Fuel mixtures accordingly. However, you do need some sort of a monitoring device to check your fuel trims and o2 sensors so you can make sure you are adjusting the translator properly.

Shoot me an email if you have any more questions about the MAF Translator or the Autotap monitor device i mentioned above. We have both in stock and offer very competitive pricing as well.

ok here is a curve ball. I had a fuel computer on my old car that is universal. You can select the type on engine and the type of air flow sensor. It interupts the MAS the same way the translator but there is a difference. The unit works with engine RPM as it has 7 points where you can adjust fuel so lets say at 500rpm you want to lean it out 5% and 5500 you can richen it up 20%. It is completely adjustable from -50% to +50% from 500 - 6500 in 500rpm increments. Does this sound interesting?

Sounds very interesting.... Just not sure whether it is possible to do on an LS1 or not. I guess it woudl be basically an RPM driven MAF Translator. Pretty cool sounding indeed.

I really want to try one but I am a few months away from needing one. Here are a few specifics.
Wiring hookup: 6 wires
power, ground, ignition, O2 sensor, interupt Mas wire to fuel computer and MAS, and TPS
Setup:
Select engine: V8
Select MAS/MAF type: 4 to choose
Select Hi and Low points of activation(if you want a certain fuel curve around tow when TPS < 45% and have a different fuel curve under WOT at the track when TPS > 75%)
Monitors:
RPM, battery voltage, O2s, MAS signal, correction factor, TPS

You can use the O2 sensor to monitor the O2 readings but the unit has a very small display so I would suggest a different monitoring device. The cost on the product is roughly 250-299. I used this on my last turbo car but it can be used on any type of car with the settings changed.
