Hi I have a 2002 Corvette. I keep getting a message on the dash stating high tire pressure left front right rear and so on. I've put the pressure into the tire as recommended by the manufacturer, 51 psi and I kept getting readings of high tire pressure I released some of the air down to approx. 41 psi. I just cannot seem to get the message on my cluster to go away UGGGGGGGG.
I'm gonna guess that you read the MAX TIRE PRESSURE on your tire and blew them up to that level (51 PSI). That pressure is stamped into the tire so that a tire shop knows the maximum air pressure they can use to seat the tire bead onto your wheel rim.
The MAX TIRE PRESSURE is not the pressure that should be used for the tires when they are on the car. Open your driver's door and you will see a label on the lower inside of the door that lists the tire pressure you should use for the tires ..... 30 PSI ....
Set your tire pressures COLD (ambient temperature) to 30 PSI ..... and the car will stop issuing warning messages to you.
51 PSI .... at least you know the TPMS is working correctly ..... your tires are WAY OVERINFLATED.
Your way too high on your pressure, on the inside of the drivers door it tells you recomended Tire PSI 30 LBS. (cold) The pressure on the tire is probably the max. for the tire Take them down to 30 cold, I run mine around 31 hot because my last set of tires wore in the middle at 30 cold
the plate on the door says 30 psi cold...
In fact I like running mine at 28 cold in the summer and raise it to 30 psi cold spring and fall when the roads don't heat up as much...
The only time I use 50 psi is for over winter storage to minimize the probability of flatspotting the tires.
