Any ideas on the quietest tires for my 2002 Coupe?
I am really tired of the very loud whining noise from the tires, especially on concrete roads. Blacktop isn't quite as bad, but still noisy enough to irritate me.
Also, I only need rear tires at this time. Any problem with having Goodyears on the front and a different brand on the rear?
Thanks in advance!
I just put Falken 452s on and what a huge difference !! I bought them because we are touring a lot this year and I wanted a better ride for long drives. A set of four cost $600.00
I was thinking of trying the 452's, but not sure yet.
Most any non-run flat will be a LOT quiter. I do not know if there is a run flat that is quite.
I run Kumho MX and they are much quiter than the GY run flats, but again not a run flat. The are about the same price as the 452's, comparable tires I think.
If you want to stay with runflats, Michelin A/S ZPs are very quiet. I started out just replacing the rear Goodyears with Michelins and the noise was greatly reduced. No problems with mixing the 2 brands.

I have had the same thing with about 4 sets of goodyear tires. I wouldn't have a set on a car if they were free! My Michelin Pilot R.F. are great!
I have the Michelin Runflats and they are quieter than the GY runflats and are less money than the GY runlats The Michelins have better traction and ride better, don't know about other brands thou.
Really? How does that work for 9/10 of the guys running drag radials?
I'm sorry, I did not see where he said he was only going to run the car at the drag strip.
I guess to satisfy all the people that wait in the wings ready to jump on peoples AZZ's I should have specified that I would not push one too hard into a TURN.
I would be careful in corners if I was running a specific tire made for launching at a drag strip just as I told the OP.
Find me the data from any tire manufacturer that recommends running two different types/brands of tires on a given car.

I think he was just giving that as an example of running mixed tires and still doing OK. I have Nitto drag radials on the back and it seems to work fine.
Mixed tires is a valid concern though. When I had runflats on the front, and non runflats on the back, it was scary. My wife didn't even want to drive the car.
I have the stock Goodyear Runflats on the front and new Goodyear GSD3s on the rear. I could only afford to replace the rears at the time. For my daily driver I simply wanted the same performance and a quiet tire. Any brand tire when it gets old will sound louder and ride harder. When I replaced the rears only it was obvious how much better they were and I love them. One year later I still have the same setup with the old runflats on the front and I forgot a long time ago that the set is mismatched. Finally, I only buy American.

Wow. Sensitive.......I'm not sure how one asking a question constitutes jumping on someone's azz.......I will steer clear or your posts in the future, to ensure I don't hurt your feelings.

That makes at least 2 of us Here in Ohio we (I) support Goodyear Brands, they have committed to building their new World Headquarters right here in the U.S. In the meantime many citizens continue to whine about imports but continue to buy them
