Default Code 1441

Hey Guys,

I've got Code P1441 (EVAP system flow during non-purge) I've replaced the gas cap and the purge solenoid valve, cleared the code, but it comes right back.

What else can it be? Also, what does this effect and is it safe to drive it this way?

Thanks for the help,
Dave

I believe it might be a vacuum leak in the system. Check the lines/hoses on the driver side of the intake then at the tank. A loose or cracked hose in the evap circuit should cause your code.

I checked the hoses by the motor when I changed the purge valve and all seemed fine. I haven't checked by the tank though.

Is it safe to drive this way? The gas/tank sounds like it is under a lot of pressure whenever the key is turned on.

Thanks, Dave

I've had friends with an evap code on other vehicles for months before they come by and ask me to help fix it. You should be fine driving it. I am curious as to how it sounds any different under pressure though. If you had a purge/evap leak, it shouldn't have any pressure or vacuum on the tank.

Default Update

I went over all the hoses by the tank and in the engine compartment. Everything seemed fine except the rubber plug/cap by EVAP solenoid valve seemed a little lose. I didn't think that was it, but I put a nylon tie around it, cleared the code, drove 100 miles today and the code has not come back. So hopefully it is fixed.

As far as the gas tank pressure sound, it was probably me just being hyper-sensitive when the it was throwing the 1441 code. Everything sounded normal today.

Thanks for all your help, Dave
