Default Exhaust welded crooked

I have GHLs that were welded and they sit crooked on my car. Looks to be to small welds, like it was just tapped. The muffler section was welded to the over axle. There are 2 spots where it was "tapped". What is the best way to deal with this? Can I jut grind down the welds and break the pipes free? Will making adjustments to the x-pipe help? Will I have to cut the pipe?

hard to picture what you're describing...

however...something i've done many times when working with metal is to heat it with a torch...then you can easily bend/shape it.

maybe this isn't condusive to where the welds are, but perhaps you could mark the required adj and do this off the car?

You should be able to grind down the weld and break the pipes free. Tack welds are usually small and are used to hold the pieces in place until a permanent weld is made.

Thanks

Will try grinding the welds down and if that doesn't work I'll try heating the pipes up to bend them.

How crooked are we talking about?

The Borla technicians that installed my quad tips just installed a breaker bar and twisted and pulled until aligned.

I wouldn't try messing with the tack welds. Just take it to a muffler shop and they can do it far quicker and easier than you. Will only cost a few dollars too.

The front pipe of the muffler section barely rests on the inside of the back bumper. We tried moving it with a breaker bar but since the 2 pipes are welded together they cant move.

You might try heating the pipe on the side you want the tip to go and quenching it with a really wet rag. It will shrink the metal and pull the tip in that direction. Body guys do it all the time to shrink the metal they are working with.

My GHL exhaust fits perfectly............I would NOT suggest trying to heat / bend the GHL exhaust system. Sounds like a sloppy job of installation, in which case I definately WOULD grind off the tack welds as previously suggested by Doug, and then make the appropriate adjustments.
