The automatic climate control on my '01 has recently developed a problem: with the passenger temp set in the normal midway position, I must set the driver's temp to a very cool setting (maybe 65') if I want to cool the car to about 72' actual on a warm day, and I must set the driver's temp to a very warm setting (maybe 80') if I want to heat the interior to about 72' actual on a cold day. The situation does not change when the interior reaches the desired temp, I have to keep it set about 80' all day long to stay warm on a chilly day. Can anyone suggest what is causing this problem?
My climate control had trouble with not giving me heat. Dealer replaced the HVAC controller under warranty and that fixed the problem. I don't know if a bad temp sensor input was to blame, or even a poor connection given the history of poor quality with my car (8 visits in the past 6 months, 2 of which were over a week each). I had no codes with the heat problem...did you check for DTCs?
My problem was the right side door postioner was bad. Door would not move. that was replaced and works fine now. It had a code saying it was bad. Have you checked the codes?
I was hoping that there was some easy fix I could perform by myself, but it's beginning to sound like a warranty appointment is in my future. Thanks for the comments.
