I swear if its not one thing its the next. The negative battery bolt is stripped. Can I just replace the bolt or do I have to replace the whole cable? TIA.
How did you strip the threads on a battery bolt. They screw into lead. Look closer maybe the threads are galled with lead from the battery and can be cleaned out.
Otherwise the bolt in the cable is captive. You would have to do some alteration to replace with another bolt.

The threads don't screw into lead. there is a steel nut that is encapsulated in the lead. If the threads were lead, they wouldn't take 15inlbs of torque.
Pliers or vice grips and pull hard it will come out.

Try a pit of grease around the shoulder on the battery bolt and slide it into the slot in the battery cable end. If it's old the material is a bit stiff so you might want to lift the rubber over the bolt shoulder with a small screwdriver.
Another thing, anyone have any ideas of how to get the bolt out of the battery? Its still in the battery and Ive tried just about everything to get it off and it wont move at all.

Try drilling the bolt center, and use an easy out.
After you get the old bolt out of the battery, run a 3/8-16 NC tap into
the battery's side terminal.

If you have already decided to give up on re-using the bolt. (Which I recommend since replacing them is REALLY easy) I would get a pair of Vice Grips and bite down EXTREMELY hard on the stripped head. Use the vice grips to turn the head until it's lose enough to use your hands (or a standard set of pliers)
The battery is out of my car now. I could not push the bolt out of the cable. I may be to weak to do it.
I am mentally trying to picture your circumstances. So bear with me:
1. You disconnected the cables to the battery and set the battery on the floor
2. You are now looking at the Positive/Red cable
3. One side has a head for an 8 MM wrench and the other side screws into the battery
4. Push on the screw side with your thumb until the 8 MM end bulges far enough past the red collar. Once you break free from the collar, the bolt comes out easy.
The battery cable is a pretty good design. It is basically a I-let/washer that has a seperate bolt that is simply held together by the cable collar.

Ive tried pliers and it didnt work. Im going to try vice grips later on today.
Its the head of the bolt that is stripped not the threads.
bite the crap out of the shoulder of the bolt with vise grips. It might help to try to wiggle the cable at the same time. you have to be careful doing that and use some finesse though, because you can rip the nut out of the lead shell.
