Default heater core?????????

i just noticed my passenger side carpet is soaked and i was wondering if it is my heater core? i checked the archives and cant find anything on c5s.
i dont smell antifreeze, the car heats up fine and it did rain quite a bit this past weekend so im hoping its just a drain clogged up
if anyone has any suggestions or can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

It's under the car beneath the battery; look for a rubber hose.

wantavette,

This problem must be corrected immediately!

This past summer, while driving out-of-state on vactation, the evaporator drain clogged on my 1999 C5 coupe. Water began to leak under the dash and into the PCM compartment. The water followed the wiring and entered the PCM computer. I did not realize the water was leaking until the car went "haywire". The horn began to honk, the hatch released repeatedly, the guages kept "sweeping", the locks repeatedly cycled, and the car finally shut down.

If you have a mat on the right side, it will also hide the water leak and soak up the water. The computer compartment cover is not waterproof.

The PCM was ruined and had to be replaced. The seat and carpeting had to be removed and the carpet dryed. This design and placement of the computer is poor and invites trouble.

The dealer/mechanic stated he cleaned "junk" out of the drain tube. I never park the car under trees and it is always garaged. It is also never driven in the rain or snow, or on dirt roads. I have no idea what clogged the drain, but I suspect is is too small to handle a lot of condensation from the evaporator. The mechanic stated he had repaired several C5 Corvettes with the same problem.

The rubber drain hose exits the firewall, between the firewall and the right exhaust manifold. The engine must be cool to reach it from the engine compartment. It can be reached underneath the dash, when the evaporator cover is removed.

Good luck.

After a 80 mile drive in the rain i noticed the next morning that an item that i had put in the pass footwell was damp, so i felt around the floor and it to was wet mostly near the sear mounts not near the PCM area, i suspect water leaked past the door seal and under the black plastic scuff guard, as unbelievable as that might seem, im am going to monitor to see if it is another source. In any case this is B.S. not acceptable in high $ car. :mad
