This problem must be corrected immediately!
This past summer, while driving out-of-state on vactation, the evaporator drain clogged on my 1999 C5 coupe. Water began to leak under the dash and into the PCM compartment. The water followed the wiring and entered the PCM computer. I did not realize the water was leaking until the car went "haywire". The horn began to honk, the hatch released repeatedly, the guages kept "sweeping", the locks repeatedly cycled, and the car finally shut down.
If you have a mat on the right side, it will also hide the water leak and soak up the water. The computer compartment cover is not waterproof.
The PCM was ruined and had to be replaced. The seat and carpeting had to be removed and the carpet dryed. This design and placement of the computer is poor and invites trouble.
The dealer/mechanic stated he cleaned "junk" out of the drain tube. I never park the car under trees and it is always garaged. It is also never driven in the rain or snow, or on dirt roads. I have no idea what clogged the drain, but I suspect is is too small to handle a lot of condensation from the evaporator. The mechanic stated he had repaired several C5 Corvettes with the same problem.
The rubber drain hose exits the firewall, between the firewall and the right exhaust manifold. The engine must be cool to reach it from the engine compartment. It can be reached underneath the dash, when the evaporator cover is removed.
Good luck.
