I have an '03 coupe without telescoping steering column. I have to put the seat all the way back for my legs to be comfortable but then the wheel is too far away. Is it reasonable to consider swapping out to a telescoping column? Are telescoping columns available? Is it cost prohibitive? I would do the work myself. Any input is appreciated.

You could do it, but you'll need to do a little more work than just the column.
The telescopic wheel is controlled by the drivers seat controller. You would need the seat controller seat wiring harness and the left side interior harness.
Your best bet would be find someone that is parting a car in the for sale parts section to get all of the parts in one place.
