Default Spark Plugs & Wires

Getting ready to change out Plugs and Wires, are the alum. heat shields required on the new wires, is this recommended? What is the easiest way to remove them, tried pulling on them will not move.

Default Spark plug wire removal

GM recommends that you twist the bottom portion of the wire to remove it.

You need to get a hold of the end of the plug boot itself( the shield comes with it) I used a long needle nose vice grip to get a hold of the boots. mggn had a post on one of my spark plugs in general discussion ,that has pics and how to write up.

They are easier to remove when the engine is warm. The alumnium shields are not really needed unless you hear some noise in the radio mine works fine without them and the plug changes are easier now too.
