Default Another CLB question. Please read.

Hi guys. I know the answer to my question will be install CLB but I want to know why this happened. I have had my car for three years. The other day I replaced battery and now I hear the column lock solenoid lock the column. I never heard it before the power interuption. As far as I know the steering wheel never locked. 6 speed car by the way. Any thoughts? I do know dealer said they did their recall. ( I know it dosn't work). Thanks. Kevin.

question::Is the column actually locking?? Mine has had 2 recall "FIXES' It makes the noise, but you can still turn the wheel.I'm still going to install a CLB to hopefully end the occasional "Remove key wait 10 seconds" PAI.

It makes the noise and locks now. It never did before battery change. I'm going to get the clb before it's too late.

I think that would be the wise move. I'd do it ASAP in your case. I'll be doing it soon myself,,and my wheel does not lock. I just want to try to circumvent the REMOVE KEY AND WAIT 10 SECONDS random aggravation!!

Installed my CLB this weekend. Just took my time and it took about one hour. If I did it again that time would be cut in half. The hardest part was looking up under the dash after the knee panel was removed. It would help if you are small and a bit of a contortionist. I thought removing and replacing the knee pad would be the hardest part but was surprised at how easy it was. Glad that it's done and now I can go cruising with peace of mind.

get the bypass box on their ASAP before you get locked out and SOL in a desolate place and have to get your car towed.
if its locking the wheel theres about a 90% chance you can get it unlocked by turning back and forth VERY hard until it breaks itself free. then put the box on.
the recall is worthless, do the bypass box.

Sounds like the column lock bypass is a must. I just bought EFI Live tuning software. Can I tune it out now and not purchase the CLB?

Just goot it out of the dealer AGAIN and they replaced the module and harness, was good for about 8 starts then....."remove key for 10 seconds", went into the codes on the dasha and came up with an A/C code and a power seat module code......hmmmmmm Once again, I leave the key in and I have no problems......I am thinking of putting the jumper in that they install for a remote start to see if it "tricks" the car into thinking the key is in it!

Oh ya, how do you go about reprogramming the shut off valve to 200 mph?
