wet BCM
HELP!! I am new here, have had my 01 Coupe 2 months. Long story short, air conditioner drain clogged, bcm got wet, car wouldn't start, dried bcm, car starts but security light stays on when driving, radio and clock stay on for several minutes after car is shut off and doors have been opened and closed. What do I need to do to fix this?

I don't think there is a fix,other than replacement,for a water damaged BCM.
Check with Gene Culley at gmpartshouse.com for the best price on a replacement.

I had a similar problem. BCM got soaked.
I think the reason you are having the problems you are is that the BCM is still wet. You need to dry it out. Run a fan on it with the door open for a while. Get all the moisture off of it.
I think the problems you are having is due to the anti-theft system kicking in due to water.

Pull the BCM out of the car. remove the screws on the outside of the aluminum case. Pry open the case (it will bend open), just enough to pull the board out. Handle the board only by the plastic connectors. Rinse the board, both sides, with distilled water (buy at supermarket). Put the board in an oven set to between 100F and no more than 150F, and let it dry-out for an hour. Cool it down, put it back into the aluminum box, and re-install it into your car.

Thanks for all your help. Are you serious about rinsing it and baking it? If that will help, I'll give it a try. Anything is better than buying a new or reconditioned part.

The OBD connector is under knee bolster drivers side.

It's an after market device that was put out by Tops Down.
It rolls down windows and gives vette "RAP"

I haven't checked them today. Monday they were B2721 and B2723 and a theft deterent relay and then yesterday it was only the relay. When I just went out to find the thing you were talking about, the horn didn't sound when I locked it like it normally does but the radio shut off when I opened the door. I think the thing is possessed!!!

I would disconnect the battery and pull out the BCM. Pop lid and use a hairdryer to make sure everything is dry.

I'll do that as soon as I get home. I really appreciate all the information ya'll have given. Everybody told us that you were an amazing bunch of people and we needed to join the madness but I had no idea just what they were talking about until now. Thanks to everyone. I'm a believer.

Well, hetook it apart when I got home, put the fan back in the floor board and took the board out of the box and took it upstairs in the air conditioning to make sure it is all dry, will use air to blow it dry before we put it back together tonight. Will let you know.
Thanks again for all your help!

For the record. Water doesn't conduct electricity very well. The minerals in the water make it conductive. That's why when someone gets the chair, they use a brine solution. I don't rinse electronics with distilled water. I use alcohol and a toothbrush and then use a hair dryer. Make sure there are no mineral deposits remaining on the circuit board. I have repaired many electronics after having anything from beer to water spilled on them. As long as the short circuits caused by the liquids don't cause any component failures, it can be fixed.

Thanks. I will do the alcohol and hair dryer before we put it back together tonight. That makes sense cause the alcohol will evaporate quickly but still work to get rid of the mineral deposits.
