Will stock 2008 18" front, 19" Rear Wheels fit my 1998 C5 without any alteration?? I currently am running stock 17" front, and 18 " rear wheel on the car now.

Thanks!!!

Hey thanks for your opinion. But the question asked was, will they fit?

They fit ok on mine with no spacers. Rear wheels are a close fit and may rub inner rear fender wells on some cars. You can solve the problem with a 1/4 inch spacer.

the early C6 look alright, just trim the inner fender liner near the bathtub for the extra room, basically a half circle

I recently put 2006 factory C6 polished wheels on my 2001 vert.
2008 wheels should have the same offset, but check first to be sure.

The wheels fit perfect, and I needed no spacers.

No wheel tub cutting was needed either.
With the stock size C6 tires,I can fit my hand between the inside of the rear tires and the wheel tubs.

C6 rear rims are a different offset. It's not a lot of difference though ... about 5/8" when measuring to the outside edge (rim lip).

Mechanically, they almost always fit fine on the C5 without any rubbing. But cosmetically they can make the rears look too far inward.. when compared to the stock C5 rims.

I am about to install C6 rims on my 2002, and I will be using a 1/4" spacer on the rears - solely for cosmetic purposes.

tried it with my buddies C6 (old spoke style)...rears sit inboard a little too much w\o spacers - front looked to be ok...I have a 97 and we bolted his rears on and it didn't rub inside on mine...it did however look funny- something that would bother the heck out of me not to buy spacers...

I am waiting for these bad boys to come available...Bob at house of wheels mentioned later in the year...

2009 ZR1 wheels...I think would look awesome on the C5

I thought that some actual measurements with C6 wheels might be helpful,so I went out to the garage armed with a straight edge and ruler.

Here's what I measured on the rear tires:
At the tire sidewall horizontal centerline, the front of the tire is 1/4" inside the wheel opening. The rear of the tire is 1/2" outside the wheel opening.

Mike Mercury is right on the mark!

My only concerns with using the 1/4" spacer would be the mechanical integrity of it,and the increased risk of stone chips on the rear quarters.

For comparison, maybe someone with stock C5 tires and wheels will post their actual measurements.

I am not 100% sure, but I think the 08 wheels have a different offset and dont require the rear spacers. Dont take my word for it, but I remember seeing something like that on a site that sells aftermarket factory style wheels.

Now that you mention it -- you can definitely see it in this picture. I didn't notice it until you mentioned it.

aftermarket factory style rims don't have to adhere to factory offsets.

you can buy aftermarket C6 style rims - in C5 diameters - that are at the C5 offsets. In this thread; I believe the OP was addressing
true OEM rims.

In order to answer questions raised in this thread, I measured and took pictures of my right rear wheel with both a C5 polished wheel and a C6 polished wheel. Both were with stock size tires. The C5 wheel stuck out a little less than 1/4 inch further than the C6 wheel.

This is a picture of the C5 wheel.

This is a picture of the C6 wheel.

The quarter inch difference really doesn't concern me much but others might want to use a 1/4 inch spacer.

interesting.

When I made my measurement using a straightedge; the difference was 19/32" (which I rounded off to 5/8).

My measurement was to the edge of the rim; not the tire.

My measurement was to the edge of the tire. C5 tire was a Michelin A/S ZP 275-40-18 while the C6 was a Goodyear GS-2 285-35-19.

Thanks for taking the time to bolt on a C5 wheel for a comparison.
The 1/4" difference from the sidewall,is what we need to make up
to get it perfect.

I forgot to mention the tires in my previous posting.
The measurements were taken from the sidewall of a Kuhmo Ecsta SPT 285-35ZR-19.

The C5 wheel has a 1/8" balance weight attachment ridge on the edge of the rim, while the C6 wheel has a smooth edge.

This 1/8" would reduce your measured difference, from the rim,to just under a 1/2".

Anyhow,I think we all agree with you that the rears do need a 1/4" spacer. What seems to be the best one to use?

After looking more closely, and seeing the actual measurements,
I agree with Mike Mercury's 1/4" spacer concept.

Just a side note........ In the month or so that I've had the C6 wheels,
I've received several compliments about them.It kind of takes some of the sting out of finding a crack in one of my original wheels!
