Default Vararam

Just got mine. I have to say , I don't like the way the filter goes in the airbox. The gasket on around the inside of airbox doesn't stay firmly against the filter, and there is no gasket on the bottom of the box where the filter makes contact. It seems like there could be some unfiltered air infiltration.

Anybody else notice this and what are your thoughts/solutions?

I personally just used the supplied gasket and my TB is clean as a whistle. Many people fill the gap around the filter with RTV.

For the price, we shouldn't have to monkey around with fixing the manufacturers oversights though

I just put one in also. Mine came with a 2 pc foam insert that went between the filter and the bottom feed. Sealed it up real nice like...

Absolutly AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!! Bought and installed mine 2 weeks ago, and I love it. A lengthy istall, but that has nothing to do with the product. Most time spent removing all the parts neccesary to get to the factory system and then Install the vararm. Everything fit perfectly just as advertised. Instructions were also very clear. Haven't been to the track since the install, so not sure just what the performance gains are yet, but working on getting there soon.

bought my z/06 new in '03heard about variram claimed 2 to 3 tenths bought it, instructions were photo copys hard to see & read and hard to understand I got it in and besides all the b.s. w/instructions they did what they were advertised to do,bottom line I picked up 3 tenths, would I buy again absoultly yes 3 tenths for the price is a horsepower bargain. In their defense I've been told instr. are much better Growing pains I guess.Anyway I'll take a product that worksW/crappy paperwork than one with glossy pictures a line of S#*# that doesn't deliver what's promised.

I had issues with sand bypassing the filter due to a gap around the filter. I solved it with a tube of Locktite silicone from Walmart. Stuff sticks and hardens much better than RTV. I ran a bead around the filter then put it in the top. Then filled in all the gaps all around the filter. Just cleaned it last weekend and there was no sand where it shouldn't be.

Hands down it's the best power gain for the money. Although I will be selling mine when I have the cash saved for the twin turbo

What kind of filter goes in it? Bought a car with it on and I took the intake off tonight and the throttle blade and ports are full of a greasy dirt like stuff. Took the Vararam apart and it had a thin foam filter in it. Hope the motor is not hurt as I leave for the power tour in 4 days. Can I gat a Pleet type filter that would fit in it?

You can buy one from Vararam or I believe a Triumph TR7 K&N can be trimmed to fit.

I love the way mine woke up on the highway after the install. It's getting about time to clean the filter. Do you need to re-oil the filter? I've got a KnN filter cleaning kit, I wonder if I can just use it or if vararam makes a cleaning kit.

I have been RACING with my Vararam for the last 3 years. IMHO best bang for the buck. The results ARE THERE. Installation was fairly easy, and the CUSTOMER SUPPORT both BEFORE and AFTER the sale is second to none.
I am extremely pleased with all aspects of the company and product.
