I've seen anywhere from 13.1 in the summer with the fans running full blast and stopped in heavy freeway traffic. Normal is more like 13.7 to 14.3 while driving. It you are running that low all the time, check your battery cable connections and the battery cable to the starter. Make sure all are clean and tight.
You need to compare the voltage at the alternator to what you're getting across your battery. Use those 2 numbers to determine how much voltage loss you have in your wiring and connections in between the two.

I've found the nut on the alternator power output wire to be an area of interest. Somtimes the nut comes loose. If you can find a small lock washer, that will usually solve that problem.

thanks,checked it already.
I'm afraid it's an alternator since I gave it a pretty good whack while replacing plugs 2 weeks ago-the plug turned loose and the end of the retchet hit the voltage regulator 9no visible damage thought).
