Column Lock for 1997?
Sorry if this was posted already but unable to find info...
Was the recall corrected for the 1997 model vette? I remember
a few months ago the recall was made for the 98-00 for VIN #'s.
Should i order the aftermarket fix?

Get and install the column lock bypass!
The column lock malfunctioned in my 1999 C5 coupe while my wife and I were on vactation, out-of-state. It immobilized the car, which had to be towed via a flatbed wrecker. We were stranded for three days and the end of our vacation was ruined (I'll never forget this Chevrolet.......).
When I called Chevrolet Roadside Assistance and provided my vehicle's serial number, the operator asked if the steering wheel was "locked up". That convinced me that Chevrolet was WELL AWARE of the problem. It still took Chevrolet many years to offer a "campaign" recall.
I can not describe the feeling of being stranded and watching my "new" Corvette being towed away. The column lock bypass is very inexpensive and is very easy to install. Do it!
