Default Magnesium Wheel Lug Insert pulled out

Removed my wheels to do a brake job.
There is an insert in each lug hole of the magnesium wheel that the lug nut seats into.
Has anyone expierenced this before and what tyoe of glue or sealant should be used to reattach?

Should be a press fit with the knurled edge keeping it from rotating.
On a side note, I see why it may have pulled out. OMG man! How do lug nuts get that rusty?
Might try a wheel shop for a repair. Is it stuck to the lug nut?

Not sure... maybe some red Locktite on the serrations would keep it from working it's way out with a lug nut again?

i would use green loctite - but if the hole it goes in is outa round not sure what will hold it.

Unfortunately, since the insert came out with the lug nut, it means the insert rotated in the hole chewing up the surface of the wheel with the knurles on the surface(making the hole the insert goes into larger). Since the insert is just there to protect the wheel, and distribute the force from the lug nut, you could use a tight temp silicone to hold the insert in place.

I have not seen lug nuts that rusty in years, I take it you drive your vette in the winter.

I assume the Stud twisted / broke off and you knocked this out the back side of the hub.

First remove the remaining piece of the broken stud from the collar. After that, It goes back in just like a normal stud by pulling it into the hub from the back side by screwing in new stud in from the front and then tightening a lug nut down on it (use some washers under the nut) untill it's drawn back into the hub. Remove the nut and washers, reinstall the wheel.

???.. Maybe I'm confused. That looks like a lug nut rusted to the wheel insert. Where do you see the stud?

I think you're going to need another wheel or professional assistance.
When that knurled seat twisted out of the wheel, it undoubtedly enlarged the hole in the wheel.
Unless over sized seats are GM available, no adhesive is going to secure another seat into the wheel and hold 100# torque.
Be safe...

Nope thats the locking lug nut stuck on the mag wheel insert.
Never seen this before but it's normal for the lug nut to rust like that, those stupid plastic covers get water in them and make the nuts rust like that.
You might be able to find someone to bore out the hole and press a mag sleeve in there and then size the sleeve and press the insert into that.
No amount of loctite or other sealer will hold that in , if you can't get it repaired right it's wheel time.

The a silicone will just hold it in place, it's not needed for structural integrity. The insert itself takes a the force from the lug nut. The fact that it's a press fit is so it stays with the wheel for mass manufacturing. The OP does not need a new wheel just because he has a loose insert. Also, you cannot just "bore" the hole, because the insert has a tapered edge that mates with the wheel surface.
