Re: Slicks on a C5 (Mitch C)
The hot set up right now for the C5 and one of the only slick tire set up that will work on the C5 is going with M/T E/T streets in size 26x11.5x16. These are essentially DOT street legal slicks (with minimal tread on them). The classy expensive rims to use for this is CCW rims out of Florida (ask for John). THe inexpensive rims that will fit or 16x8.5 or16x9.5 inch rims off of L98 vettest years 84thru87. ALso, 16 x8 inch f-body rims will also work. Also Weld sells 16x8 inch rims which will accomodate the et streets in the above size (which is definitely the size you want). Wades car at ARE ran 9.5s with 1.49 60 foot time at over 150mph on these exact et rims mounted on weld draglites and stock front radial tires (which many argue are dangerous but I think Wades car has put that issue to rest for awhile). Most guys are having more success at the drags running the et streets tubeless (yes they have tubes inside the car but run fine without them) as car is less squirrelly on top end tubeless with stock radials on front and tubes weight 10lbs each. Ultimate set up is Putting e/t street skinnines on front at the drags and that will give you another tenth or two but more $ also. With all of the aforementioned rims, except maybe the CCWs, you will have to do minimal grinding to clear upper ball joint, etc. but I have been told no big deal. The only other rims which would accomadate a pure dragstip slick such as Hoosiers or et drags would be a 15 inch rim and no one is running this b/c they don't fit on the car.
I will be putting these e/t streets on weld draglites on my C5 for the spring and expect to see mid 11s on motor only.
Where are you getting the Weld draglites from, as I too am interested in the same setup, and what size tires and wheels are used for "skinnies" up front??

Re: Slicks on a C5 (R BONUS)
R Bonus:
Call Weld directly at 866-753-4297 for purchase of weld drag rims. For rear they sell a draglite wheel in 16x8 and a five star xp rear wheel in the same size. They can give you their webpage # where you can view pics of the wheels. I don't have much info on the front skinnies b/c I'm only going with rear et streets but the person you want to talk about sizes on that is John at CCW Wheels out of Florida. He offers matching drag set up for et streets with skinnines on front and several forum members such as Austrian Vette love this set up for the drags. I don't have CCW phone # but you could easily get it by reaching out to Austrian Vette, etc. Once you researcht the size rims and tires for the skinnines then you can see if Weld offers a rim that would work.
As all my research has been about the rear drag slicks, I don't have any other info about skinnies but John at CCW could hook you up with this or Austrian Vette or other forum members running this drag set up.
