As far as I can tell (from my noise experiences), the clanking noise is dependant on the size of the hole at the ends of the bars. Depending on which endlinks you are using, any play of the endlinks in the hole will create a clanking sound (please refrain from commenting on the obvious double entendre here) :D . Sometimes, if you ratchet down the endlinks supertight, you can get rid of the clank. In addition, you can try an angled nut to fill up the space in the hole (same notation as above). Solved my problem.
