Default Help with gas gauge

Today, my wife and I drove around with the top down for two hours enjoying the nice weather. When I returned home, the gas gauge read more than when we left. About a 1\8 more. Hmmmmmm? I just new we probabaly burned up aleast a 1\4 tank.

Could be that it was stuck in a lower postion when you left and started reading properly as you drove. The C5 has a very common problem of the guage reading low or empty.

Usually running some Chevron Techron (or any good fuel system cleaner) will free it up and get it reading properly.

There's a kajillion posts on dealing with the fuel gauge issue. Mine (2004 Coupe) quits between 1/2 and a little over a 1/4. Fine on both sides of that. I've tried Techron until I might as well own stock in the company. Top Tier fuel has not changed a thing either and many suggest 1-2 Techron treatments and top tier fuel does the trick. I have to go well out of my way to get Top Tier gas and have done it for several fill ups. Until then, I was running Sunoco 94 - 3 years and no problems - all started last summer.

I give up. I know my cruising range pretty well. Not a chance I'll pay a dealer $100's ($1,000's?) to fix my sending unit(s) to have it happen again? One would think when you spend $45K new, a good fuel measurement system would come with it. GM should be standing behind this one. Embarassing, but it's still a Vette, it's mine, and I'll put up with it.

Don't just run a couple tankfuls of fuel system cleaner. Switch to a better gasoline...

One post should be enough Plus, you might think about posting problems with a C6 in the C6 tech section
