manual tranny shift **** retainer

Hi,

Does anyone know how to get the shift **** retainer out of the shift **** under the R-6 shifter cap. The cap comes off easy. The retainer is in there so good it is bending my tools. I'm about ready for a sawzall!

Get some locking needle nose pliers (vise-grips) and lock it on the key and then smack the vise grips with a hammer......its a pain in the *** but keep working at it and it will come loose. Also try a side to side motion on the vise grips inbetween hammer hits

I had a stuck one too. Drilled a small hole in the center and used a dent puller, came right out and did not ruin anything
