Clutch/tune-up/tune $$$$$$
My clutch feels pretty terrible, after looking around a bit i found a shop in KC that is very reputable with vettes that will get me a spec clutch, new slave cylinder, remote bleeder, and all the other parts involved in replacing the clutch for a very reasonable price ( under $1000 )
The only thing i would also like done while doing the clutch is probably get a nice lightweight flywheel to accompany the UD pulley i already have. What ( inexpensive ) lightweight flywheel do you all recommend??
I also feel i may as well change out my plugs/wires and do some basic tune-up/cheap mod stuff...
The car is a 2000 FRC M6 , and as i stated before it is getting close to 70,000 miles now, and i frequently do HPDE's in the car as well as drive it daily!
Give me some insight as to what i should get for a flywheel, and how much to expect to pay for a tune up ( plugs/wires)
thanks!
the fidenza is going for under $300 on ebay now and weighs 13 lbs. Ebay has some lt weight steel ones too that are steel with a lot of material taken out around the edges to lighten it up and reduce the rotating moment of inertia.
Spec and centerforce make light weight clutch pressure plates too.
Remember to have the assembly balances and don't forget a remote clutch bleeder from LAPD for $50 shipped it includes a speed bleeder and is routed up the fire wall along the clutch fluid reservoir.
I would be sure to get a new slave cylinder and clutch master cyl. The Z06 versions are updated and better than stock pre 01's. I also installed a new pilot bearing, but had to make my own puller to get the darn thing out.
Just out of curiosity, What are your clutch symptoms? Have you turkey basted the old fluid out of the reservoir?
I went with a lt weight zoom twin disc assembly on mine. It is beautiful..... When I removed the stock clutch, the pressure plate and flywheel looked like a hippies tie dye shirt at Woodstock from the heat spots and marks.
Other alternatives to the spec set up is a ls7 assembly (flywheel included, you would have to get a ls2/ls7 light weight flywheel if you want that option.
the lightweight fly wheel is going to add ~$300 to the package price, but $1000 installed including material is pretty good. I know shops that charge $600-$900 just for the install.

you think a bleed would help it?? or what should i try to see if i really NEED a clutch or not... i don't drag race, so if i can get this clutch to feel a little better under-foot then im sure it will survive a season of daily driving and autoX
