Ok. Ive got a 03 vette that seems to have a possessed tach. My first thought is the cam sensor.....u know..the one in the back of the bloody motor...that takes like 2 hours to get to and 3 seconds to change? If im driving down the road and hit a bump sometimes the tach will jump like 1k rpms and then hit zero and stay there until i hit another good bump, and then it might work for a few miles and repeat the process. I can touch the pigtail that goes into the sensor and its in there tight so i dont think its getting a bad connection. Any suggestions? Im hoping this has happened to somebody else and they can tell me how to fix it.
Also if you turn the blower motor for the ac up more then 2 clicks it sounds like a friggin monsoon is going on in the car. Maybe something stuck in the blower wheel? Any ideas there either?
All other gauges working right? Do you have HUD, and does the RPM function on it work correctly? Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. Might need to pull the Inst panel and check for a loose connection there.
yea the reading on the HUD does the same thing. It fluctuates with the tach. Thats kinda why i thought it was the sensor, but then again im new the vette sceen so i wasnt sure.
Check your grounds. I rebuilt my 99 FRC and my tach would jump while I was driving down the road. My ground wires were so corroded and some were disconnected.
well i had a cam sensor go bad on my 99 ls1 and the tach quit...car ran fine. now i slapped the dash and it perked back up...so i got to messin around with the wires under the dash while i was drivin and i guess whatever i moved fixed it cuz now its working fine...who knows!? if it happens again ill probably just end up takin the dash off
