I've got a good MAC impact (was a mechanic before I started teaching) but it was not budging that bad boy. The trouble with spinning it off that way is that I could not be sure how much I was putting back on. I guess you can index with an impact gun. Sort of scary to think about though Wondering how the impact-method works when you put it back on.
I will try to get a pic of my make-shift tool that will put GM out of business LOL. In all honesty, it only works on automatics but when I have this all done and somebody wants to borrow it....

Thanks all,

I can't budge my crank bolt either with an air gun. I a ingersoll/rand titanium gun, suppose to be like 600 ft pds. Going to try the heat method and if that doesn't work it's the big breaker bar method.
I used a breaker bar, an air ratchet socket, and some elbow grease. Its about getting leverage when doing it this way though. You man need to take off your hood and intake or just get a lift and get under it like I did The lift is the easiest way.

I got it off pretty easily once I used the GM flywheel lock and a long rachet wrench. Took about 5 minutes.
