I just changed my oil and thought I would try a Wix filter. My oil pressures were always in the the 42-46 psi range. Now it stay at 52 psi. Is that OK? Thoughts.
My wife picked up the filter for me and i did not know it was $17. I hope it is that good.
It is okay. I used to use Mobil 1 and Premium DELCO UPF-44 oil filters, until I got concerned about oil flow (these filters filter too good, at expense of oil flow, imho).
When I switched to WIX (or NAPA Gold, same filter), my cold oil pressure increased 10-15 psi, since the LS1 oil pressure sensor is after the filter, this means increased oil flow. I went over 6,000 miles on this filter and got an oil analysis, there was no difference, Blackstone Labs says they rarely see any difference with different oil filters (this should tell you something).
BTW, the oil pressure relief for an LS1 (which is in the block, not in the oil filter) is set around 70 psi.

Actually, I just looked those filters up on the net and they are like $4.77 at Rock Auto before the forum discount. I think the parts store jacked up the price because my wife went there to pick it up and did not know any better. I will be calling them tomorrow.
Got a good deal at Autozone: 5 quarts of Mobil One and the Mobil One filter for $26.
With heads and cam, headers, high stall tq mine runs about 60 psi - pressure corrector is set at 65.

What rpm and is the oil pump a stock ls1/ls6 unit?
my oil pressure is hanging on 74-88.whats that.just had it changed 400 miles ago.HELP?
Mostly you should worry when you have too little oil pressure; the interesting thing about what you mention is it stays at the pressures you mention. Often the pressure increases with RPMs (to a point). Depending on the car, if you have 25-30 PSI at idle and it increases with revs you are good. I have built and seen engines with 50-75 PSI often.

What about the other quart and a half needed for the fill? How much did they charge for that They DID put in 6 1/2 quarts, right?

change the filter... i get 10-15 lb difference with different filters
i used the NAPA (wix) premium top of the line filter and i went to 65+
next time i put the medium priced Napa (still wix) filter in and it dropped back to 52. it has the Nascar logo on it

I've used Amsoil, Wix, NAPA Gold and Delco AC on my Z06 and the oil pressure has stayed the same (within a pound or two) between them. Used Mobil 1 5w-30 with all these filters.
