Default Hurst shifter cap bolts?

I bought a used hurst shifter, and it did not include the bolts. Anyone know the length/size/pitch of the bolts that I need? I know they need to be cap bolts, as they recess into the shifter.

Thanks,

Jason

Did you contact HURST (now part of B&M RACING)?
And are you talking about the allenhead cap screws that secure the shifter to the oem "box" above the torque tube or the bolts on the top side of the shifter mechanism?
I'd bet they're 1/4-20" for the four mounting bolts since that's oem size.
As to length, I couldn't tell you for sure. The oem bolts were either 5/8" or 3/4" long as I recall, but the billet HURST construction would need to be slightly longer than the stamped steel oem. Thread length is measured beneath the head of the bolt/screw.

Yes, the 4 bolts that hold it to the tunnel. I know I can't reuse the stock ones, as I need the cap heads. Thanks for the info on the thread size, just need to get the length.

They should be metric I think, not SAE.

Try an 8mm x 1.25 and go from there in determining length if correct.

In the thousands (literally) of past shifter discussions, no one that I can recall has ever said the oem shifter used used metric thread mounting bolts.
That may be what a previous owner used at some point, but it's not what came oem. They may even thread into the 1/4-20" threads (damage?), but originally GM used SAE threads.
I just checked the oem shifter from my '04 car. It's been sealed up with the four original mounting bolts since I removed it. They are 1/4-20x5/8", verified with a tap/die and thread gauge. They have no metric markings. The oem bolts are flanged hex head with a zinc coating.
With the billet construction of the HURST shifter, you'd probably need another 1/4" in length at the minimum...remember to measure the threads from below the head.
Here's a suggestion, either contact HURST or remove the oem bolts from your current shifter and use those to get the allenhead bolts you need.
I'd be willing to bet the original bolts are SAE 1/4-20x5/8"...

Thanks. From what I can tell, it seems to be that I will need 1/4-20, 3/4" long.
