Default Column lock Clicking got it on video

To make a story short last week got the fuel cut on my car had to get it towed to the closed dealer, thats when I found out the recall was done on it already explains why the wheel didn't lock on me.. They installed all this parts..

89023816 Harness k 2.195
88965331 Lock 2.195
10304930 BCM 2.560
12177233 Relay 9.277

Wow 3 days later after picking up my car and my column is clicking, sounds like the pin.. Makes the the sound only with the car on. When its off I turn the wheel nothing. This can't lock up on me correct since the wheel turns with the car off? Oh man I hope GM provides loaners I dont have time for this with my work schelude. Whats your guys input on this..

Good thing I didn't pay a dime would be more upset..

Not good, the clicking is likely the lock pin partially engaged. My suggestion is get rid of the k harness and get a CLB from Corvettes of Houston

Yeah already ordered one, but I think it might be a bad idea to touch it right now what if I can't get it to disengage? or maybe its not the pin And If I still have the clicking then they probably want to charge me saying it was my fault looks like someone touched our install.

If the wheel turns with the car off this can't lock on me correct?

Default steering column locked

go to www.97vette.com

I used this info when my column locked on my '99 automatic away from home last Thursday.

First off I ordered the CLB from Corvettes of Houston.

When I went to install it, nothing worked, then I removed another panel under the steering column and found that it had the dealer K-Harness installed already which surprised me that it still locked up.

Using 97Vettes info I removed the K-Harness, reconnected the stock wiring and prceeded to clear the codes as instructed. This also instructs you to pull the fuses and disconnect the Negative battery cable for a short time to clear the computers. As a result the column unlocked for me.

The next morning I disconnected the factory wiring used the cigarette lighter adapter to power the release of the column lock then plugged in the CLB.

I drove the car around Saturday and did not experience any codes or fuel cut-off issues.

Hope this helps, RWP

So its basiclly unplug the K-Harness and install the clb into the same spot correct?

Default steering column locked

The K-Harness actually (on my automatic) splices into the factory harness using both connectors. The CLB (once the column unlocks) plugs into only one of the factory connectors.

In the forum tech section at the top is the section on the steering column problems. There you will see a picture of the dealer K-Harness with both leads. In this section it will talk about the differences between the auto/mn6.

I used info from both 97vette and the forum for analyzing my problem.

Yes, remove Harness K and install CLB...........I am surprised that you could be a forum member for nearly two years, and you've not yet installed a CLB, and you let the dealer install the infamous known to fail, Harness K
