Default My progress 3 hrs later...

Cam and spring swap progress. Im going to install my LC-1 too.

I started around 10am and needed to do some running around. So about 1pm I got to here. Valve covers, coils, wires, water pump, radiator, rockers, push rods, alternator, air box etc are out. Im going to get back to it around 8 ish. Just need to pull the rack, balancer, timing cover and cam. Should be running tonight. I'll get a video up as soon as I get it started.

Looks like its going pretty good. What cam did you decide to go with? I'm probably going to be tearing into mine in the next few weeks for a similar swap. Good luck! Keep us posted on the results.

No, I've done an Ls-1 cam, springs before so I have an advantage.
I started back on it at 10:00 PM and quit at 2:00 am. Things kinda slowed a little. I have the new seals, springs, rockers, cam, timing cover and headers bolted in place. Well, the drivers side is all snuged up. The passanger side is bolted up pretty much but not torqued. I still need to put a couple of more fasteners in the flange. Below is a pic of my spring tool. I highly reccommend the Crane spring tool, its awsome. You can do two springs at once. I made a little set up for filling the cylinder with air from the compressor to hold the valves up. All and all its going really well. The Lg's fit amazing, they were easy to install even tired.

Looks like I'll have about 11-12 hours in it by the time Im done. I hope, dont want to jinyx myself. I think its all down hill from here.

Spring tool, comperssor fitting in plug hole.

Nice work. Having never done a cam swap in a C5, its not something I look forward to doing. Does the radiator have to come out too?

Yes, radiator and fans had to come out. I didnt pull the steering rack all the way out, I just slide it out of the way.

Little update, I work an enormous amout of hours so I havent had time to get it finished, but a friend of mine installed my balancer, valve covers etc. All that left to do now is install the trans cooler, radiator, fans, hang the rest of the pipes underneth, oil, top off tranny and install LC-1. I have a day off on Wed, it will be done. I'll try to get a video up. I cant wait!

Great work, I look forward to the video. Are you planning on putting it on a dyno? I would love to hear what kind of # you're making.

My friend e-mailed me and said he would just finish it up tonight while Im at work. Sweet huh?, Im gonna slide him a few c-notes for his time. Im not sure about the dyno just yet. I want to get a good street tune with my wideband and HPtuners. I REALLY want to go see Chuck Cow, but Im afraid my tune wont be good enough to make the 500 mile trip. Ive been reading on tuning like crazy. Im not too hung up on Dyno numbers, but Im curious too. Im thinking around 370hp? Its pretty much cam only, I did install an LS6 intake awhile back. 390hp would be great though, I wouldnt be mad.
