Default Steering Position Sensor Issue

Hey guys

when i received the Steering position sensor i noticed that it is different from the one i have, the plug is 4 wires instead of 6 and the plug is upwards instead of sidewards. i plugged it in and i instantly received the following errors:

C1281 Steering Sensor Uncorrelated Malfunction
C1288 Steering Sensor Circuit Malfunction
C1780 Loss of Steering Position Signal

What do you guys think it is, very known GM parts online seller and he confirmed that it should fit on 1997-2004 Vets although it was stated that it is for a 2001-2004 Vets.

The correct part number for a 1997 is 26055808 (all types of 1997 column) .... if you have a different part, you have the wrong one.

Before you go through all the hassel of replacing it try disconnecting the battery for about ten minutes and clean the sensor plugs. That worked for me and so far so good, knock on wood.

Go to the same website and put in the part number I gave you in post #3 above .....

26055808

You'll see that is the correct part for your car.

Good Evening,

Yes, I personally made the error. It was a catalog error and I apologize for the problem and I will be happy to make the customer happy. I don't run from problems I address them.

The customer and OP was very kind about the whole thing...

Thank you, Gene.

Class move, Gene. Everyone makes mistakes but few have the strength of character to admit them. Kudos to you...
