Default A4 question

I have a 98 with 108k miles and an A4 tranny.

With the car in drive and stopped at a light, it sometimes feels like the transmission is "growling"...that's the best I can describe it. It's not very noticeable....more of a feeling coming through the brake pedal. If I slip it into neutral it stops.

Hopefully, this isn't a sign of impending doom? It shifts just fine. I plan on getting a new filter and having it powerflushed, just for preventive maintenance.

Mine does the same thing. It may be the torque tube. Mine has not got any worse since I bought the care 30k miles ago.

Does that to me all the time when it holds the engine idle down 100 rpm less than the engine idle in neutral.

Cool, I've got at least 30k more worry-free miles to go.

Still would like to know the cause though. It's going to bug me. Anybody?
