C5 LS7 clutch install problems, HELP!!

C5 LS7 clutch install problems, HELP!!
I can't seem to get the pressure plate into the bell housing when
the clutch disk is installed...
I keep hitting the alignment pins when I push the pressure plate up
into the belling housing.
I'm sure it's something I'm doing/not doing but can't figure it out...

Just this weekend I put an ls7 clutch setup into my 99 C5, and i had the same problem, so i screwed the bellhousing bolts out about half way so i could pull the bellhousing out a little more, and it worked without a problem! But it was a huge pain in the butt to get to the bolts, took a good hour to get all the bolts far enough out.

We drove the alignment pins to the bottom of their holes and everything went together... So why don't they push them in all the way??
