Default Cam only in a 2000 A4

My father has a 2000 C5 convertible and I currently work at a custom cam shop and am able the get cams ground pretty cheap.

His car has about 35,000 on it and he commonly drives it cross country. Thought I would run this set-up by you guys, to see if this type of set-up would effect mileage at all or have other issues?

Will be having it tuned after install will this be able to be driven 200-300 miles from his place to my tuners?

Cam will be around 226ish/230ish .600/.600ish 114+2.
Plan also on doing PSI 1511 springs and Trend push rods with the cam. May also do a LS2 or true roller timing set.

How hard is this work to do on a corvette, whats involved ?

Thanks in advance,
Chad

Chad,
Your father should be fine on that setup. I have a 224/568 112 lsa in my car with a stock converter. Alot of people will tell you that you NEED a converter. Here is what i say to get the full effect of the cam you do need a converter HOWEVER you dont HAVE to HAVE it. I did everything in my garage, its not that hard had it done in 2 nights of woking on it after work. If your good with a wrench that is. Go to ls1.com and get there write up its helps a lot. Also do a search on the forum there is a lot of good info here that explains it as well Good luck and enjoy the new power.

Chad, will he also install headers?
Will he raise the shift points?
Will he change gears or converter?
Does he race or just punch around town.
If not, then he might be better off with something smaller.
A little 216/220 Comp or a 206/220 LPE will out-torque the bigger cams up to 5500 RPM in a car with stock exhaust.

Def post if he has or is getting longtubes, If he adds anything i think he should get a tune. Not worth adding all the time money and effort and then not get it tuned

Thanks for the replys , his car is currently stock with corsa touring cat back. The car will be driven to the tuners once the cam is installed.

He may do something like an air intake in the future, for the most part he is pretty easy on it. I may give him my 243 heads (2.055/1.600), with some LT's and the stock injectors off my LS2 when I get my L92 swap going. May also give him a yank 3600 for X-mas or something.

Well I have the final specs on the cam

224/230 .595/.595 on a 113'

So what do you guys think

I'm hoping it will leave a little room for growing, stall, headers ,243 heads LS6 intake.
