Default 98-00 Owners with Active Handling/RPO JL4

I recently acquired a 99 conv. It has option JL4 Active Handling according to vehicle build info from GM.
The console pod does not have “ACTIVE HANDLING” printed on it as it should.
When the console button is pushed the message on the DIC only reads traction control on or off, rather than TRAC/ACT HNDLG ON or OFF.
The EBTCM [control module] has M printed on the label rather than a V found on JL4 option cars.
The lower two screws are missing from the module mount. Appears it has been messed with. Either just the control module was replaced with non JL4 version or the entire assembly was replaced with non JL4 version..
I need to determine if the modulator side is the JL4 version or not.
If it is the JL4 version I plan to replace the control module side with V version part#9376711 and hope that gets the Active Handling functioning again.

Can anyone check the numbers on their EBTCM modulator to see if they match up with mine?
Mine numbers are
0 265 202 030 003
C 1 5 9 0 5 4 3 001
983 16 37 01
10428166

i believe that the unit you call the ebtcm is really the pump, and the control module is the unit in front of the pump, the ABS system is made up of two parts the module and the pump, i quest there a chance that someone may have put a ebcm module for non jl4 on the pump, i am not sure how this would work.

I agree you are showing the numbers for the pump. Read the numbers on the part with the white label with M on it. Somebody could have installed the wrong EBTCM as they are plug compatible just not function compatible.

'99 JL4 BMV should be #10417038.
EBCM should be #9376711.

EBTCM=Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module
Which is the side that contains the electronics and harness plugs in to.
BPMV=Brake Pressure Modulator Valve
Which is the side the brake lines attach to.

Below is pic of the EBTCM which is a M type. I believe this was replaced at one time with the wrong unit. It should have a V type module for JL4 option.

I trying to confirm if the Modulator side is the original/correct JL4 version.

Thanks

call the dealer and give him the Modulator number he should be able to tell you if it right for your car.

Installed a V EBTCM module in place of the M module and my A/H is now functioning. Also the DTC C1281 Steering Wheel Postion Sensor issue is not longer present.
