Default LS3 (418) in a C5??

Anyone replaced their LS1/6 with an LS3/L92?
What all would be involved in doing this? The gears have been turning on a forged Ls3 with some headwork and a nice cam. I have read where the L92 heads have as much if not more flow potential as the LS7 heads, and the ported intakes do pretty well too. i have seem some cam only LS3 cars in the C6 tech make some pretty nice power as well!!
Bottom line, I want more power, thought about tt's, but I would rather have a nice na motor with some spray on top just for ***** and giggles. Would 540ishwhp/490+wtq be possible with an na LS3 setup? Maybe someone from ECS will chime in since their package was one that I was looking at...
Let me know what's been done, what hasn't, or what's on your mind!!

There have been some posts on this topic.

Here is a link to one that was for sale.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1901710

You might want to pm BLOWNZ06 and talk to him on the subject.

LG motors was able to get 450rwtq/501rwhp from stock cube LS3 with a cam and bolt-ons. I would say with the extra cubes you should be able to make those numbers.

I think this would be the hot setup.

With a streetable cam I would think 525 RWHP and 500 ft. lbs would be achievable and not have to shift above 7000.

Just need 24 reluctor crank ring and a couple of harness changes (approx $100).

We have used the LS3 block on a few builds so far and its been great. For boosted applications we are sticking with 416 cuin and we can get right about 420 inches for an N/A engine. Getting you in the 540 rwhp range is certainly attainable. Feel free to give me a call if you have any questions at all.

I built the first 403 using L92/LS3 heads in the country. It's still running great and makes 510/470 with stock like drivability. 380 RWT at 2200RPM and 400RWT from 3k on up. I've got a few more tricks coming up soon that will actually improve drivability more and add 30-35 RWT in the middle.

You won't need a 4xx inch motor. You can make decent numbers with a stock displacement motor - 376ci.

interesting. What all did you have to do to the block to make them fit?

I replaced my LS1 with a L92/L76 (intake)(has a bigger throttle body) last year. You will will need all the wiring harness adapaters (you can get them from Casper or someone else) for the MAF, MAP, cam position sensor, crank position sensor. Someone already mentioned the difference in the reluctor wheel. Of course you will need to have the ECM re-tuned. It should come with the later model oil pan so you can use that (not the early one, with the sides the buldge). You may also have to get a different oil temperature sensor and collant temp sensor. I think that is about it.
