HEY GUYS! HAS ANYBODY USED THE PRODUCT Z-MAX IN YOUR VETTE? IF SO WHAT DO YOU THINK? GOOD OR BAD? I SEEN THEIR COMERCIALS! IS THIS WORTH THE MONEY OR ANY OTHER PRODUCTS THAT DO THE SAME?... MY 2002 VETTE HAS LESS THAN 41,000 MILES ON HER. AND I WANT TO KEEP HER RUNNING SMOOTH AND CLEAN.
All you need is Mobil1. Just like the General says.
Don't put any additives in your oil.
Steve is correct if you are going to only drive your Corvette in a spirited fashion occasionly.
Something you need to think about if you are going to track your car with some regularity is the fact that the EPA has mandated that the oil companies reduce the amount Zinc-dialkyl-dithio-phosphate they put in today's oils. This additive was used primarily to preclude the premature failure of the lifter lobe in flat tappet engines. Secondarily, it provides a sacrifical layer on other engine parts that are subject to high contact pressures and heat. Because I track my car and exercise the engine at power levels and rpm levels that GM did not design it for I have chosen to use Mobil 1 0w40 with a ZDDP additive.
So, the decision is yours depending on your usage pattern and how long you want to keep the car.
When I owned my motorcycle shop, we had a vendor that *forced* us to sell it with new vehicles in that product line. I could tell you some stories... Like the one where Z-Max got sued when chemical tests found it to be nothing more than mineral oil... Stuff like that!
what about fuel treatments for the fuel injectors?
If you run Chevron or Shell, other top tier gas, it is really not needed. If you run like Costco or some no name premium gas then I would, now and then.
