Hi,
I want to paint my calipers. At the same time I plan to replace my front pads to remove any paint that finds its way onto them (I do not want the whole assembly to be painted).
I plan to use Raybestos Ceramics for low dust. Anyone with experience? Are they good from cold?
Is it straight forward to replace the front pads? Does anyone have a step by step guide. This would be good a good reference for the tech archives.
If you have done any brake jobs with Disc brakes before it is straight forward. As for the Pad replacement, I would either stay with the stock pads which are pretty good for everyday driving and occasional high speed stops, Or I would go with a good Hawk pad. My experience with low dust pads was that they didnt last long at all when I was hard on them. :( I now have the Hawk Autocross pads. They dust and the squeak but they bite pretty hard and stop the car very well. They are more than you will ever need for the street.

Re: Help with replacing front brake pads (hotc5)
I got the pads in Pep Boys and they are cheap and decent for street use. There is no comparison to race pads but they are dirty and not worth it if not on the track. You need a 15mm socket and a 16mm wrench to pull the calipers.
