Default Coolent temp

Was driving the 98 today and just so happen to have coolant temp display on..I was running around 217-225 at driving speed with a high idle temp of 230.What is the CI(cut in)temp for the electric fans and is 230 to high? It's in the mid 80s here in Minn today.I also had a little coolant on the floor when I backed out of the garage.Clark.

Those temps seem normal, but the coolant on the floor does not.

My '98 had the water pump gasket fail, and I believe this is quite common on the early model c5's. You need to find out where it is leaking from and get it fixed before you end up overheating.

How many miles...?

I have a 98' and my waterpump gave out around 125k...pretty common actually.
