I am having a very frustrating overheating problem but only at freeway speeds. I guess starting around over 55-65mph. 2001 convertible 6speed, has 100 shots nitrous but w/o spray and it was normal driving on freeway but the car immediately heats up straight to 240 degrees(but not more then that while i drive about 15 mile stright on freeway) when going over 60-80mph and get back to traffic light it gets cool down to around 200 drgrees. 200 looks normal to me but over 60mph, 2 miles after it goes to 230-240 degrees again. After dyno tune guy change my fan contol I usually see 170-200 degrees traffic or freeway even after spray it. . It happen 3days stright up. PLEASE HELP me out.
Is your fan on while driving on the highway? It is supposed to cut out at speeds above 35mph to keep the fan blades from blocking air flow. Also check your A/C condensor and see if it is blocked by debris picked up from the highway.
I'm not sure fans on or not on high speed. Is there any other chance I can notice it instead of sound? I'm not a really tech guy. But the derbis I clean up month ago and I check from the bottom yesterday, it was clean.
I moved front air dam about year ago but never had a problm like this before. Today I check the ac condensor and radiator agian, theres no derbi or bag.
If you removed your front air dams you need to reinstall them. Not only do they drive air into the radiator, they are also important for the cars handling.
If you have swapped your lower hose and it didn't have a wire coil in it, it will suck itself flat at higher rpm. But not during stop and go driving. Squeeze it or hold the rpm's at about 3000 when the engine is warm and the stat is fully open. Just another idea worth 2 cents.
