Last evening with the 383'....
There are a handful of threads on the various boards discussing the build specifics of this engine and its performance but here are just a few of them for the newer crowd among us.

That said I am very much looking forward to the larger 447 CID build I have in the pipeline (featuring a new larger addition to the AFR cathedral Gen III heads), but unfortunately it will be many months before that project is finished. To the guys who are certain to ask about the new 235/240 ish head we are going to release, my only comment is they will be worth the wait (for more reasons than just flow numbers) and are still months away (my R&D efforts at AFR have been focused in other directions although I am close to finishing the new Gen III prototype).
Here is a quick improptu video a coworker took of my car the last Fri night it roamed the streets a week or two back. Honestly the vid quality isnt that great but the soundclip is worth the minute of your life it takes to load it....it literally was the last few blasts to redline this engine had the pleasure to hit as it seemed it was always the happiest screaming big RPM's at WOT. I took her apart the very next day.
BTW, this run would have been a little longer than the actual quartermile for me (where this car normally traps around 130 MPH)....in this vid I take fouth gear till the shiftlight comes on which is just shy of 145 MPH.
Enjoy....

The new build based around the same (honed with new rings) shortblock and just over 11 to 1 compression ratio will feature a set of our 205 heads that I will be doing some additional combustion chamber and light porting work on (similar to Arkay99, Vettenuts, and a few other members I have helped) and a hydraulic roller cam for zero maintenance versus the solid grind and the larger 225 heads I was running. Using the customers ported FAST 90 I helped him with awhile back as well as a ported LS2 TB, it should make for a very interesting dyno comparison (the biggest changes being a fresh short, different heads, hydraulic cam). It will in fact be installed, tested, and tuned at the same dyno facility I have been using for alot of my more recent chassis dyno R&D (Haddad Motorsports) so the comparison between my former 225 headed solid roller version will be very interesting (and a viable comparo utilizing the exact same dyno in a very similar car with very similar drivetrain losses).
With the fact this new combo will have the 1.75 LG Pro headers (and their very long primary pipe lengths which enhance low/midrange torque), the smaller ported 205 head (lots of airflow thru a conservative runner volume), and a slightly more conservative cam (234/238 on a 114), Im looking for a power curve with more low/midrange grunt and Im hoping the new combo will get reasonably close (within 20-30 HP) of my former more aggressive combination's peak. Honestly I hope to see the new milder combo clear 520 RWHP and possibly even clear 500 RWTQ....big numbers from a very conservative 91 octane small stroker and a small cam. We were tempted to go a tad bigger (on the cam) but this car is literally the customers daily driver so perfect drivability and reasonable fuel economy forced our hand to remain conservative on our camshaft selection. It the engine puts out even close to what I hope, it will be a hard running very user friendly combination that Im sure the owner will be thrilled with.
Fingers crossed!

Wow! 500+ rwhp for a commuter...sounds like fun.

I figure five years from now I will hardly remember....
I know every tool I need to swap a clutch in a C5 now and gather them all up before loosening bolt number one!....alot less up and down time heading to the toolbox
Give me a buzz the end of the week....I was slammed last time you called. Fridays are usually good and Mondays are just the opposite.....LOL
Sounds like you had a great time at that road race event....one of these days I will take the plunge!
