GM states to remove the water pump and the lines at the back of the compressor.
Then the compressor will come out toward the front, w/ the waterpump not there.
If you want to avoid a coolant mess, remove the passenger side exhaust manifold, unhook the lines from the back of the compressor and then undo the line at the Accumulator Dryer. take the A/c line and flip it up towards the radiator.
By removing the manifold the compressor will come back and up. the stud that the 15mm nut is on will have to come out also. Other wise you wont be able to slide the compressor off of it

Sounds like you have a leak. Next time you add refrigerant, I would add some with UV dye. After a few days you can check all of the connections with a UV light and glasses (either rent or buy from Autozone). If there is a leak, you'll see it. Check the hoses where they connect to the compressor, accumulator, and condenser. I've also heard of compressors themselves developing leaks, in which case you'd need to replace it. Either way, if you find the leak, you'll need to evacuate and open the system to replace the o-rings.
If this sounds like a lot of work, take it in to a reputable a/c shop for diagnosis.
