I have a 98 that cranks excessively before it starts (cold). When it is warm and been running awhile and you shut it down and it starts on instant turn of the key. If you let it stay overnight it takes several seconds to fire off. It always used to start on instant you turn the key(even when cold). The car has minimal usage. My guess is a fuel pressure regulator however would like more advice and opinions and confirmation of my diagnosis Thanks and appreciate all feedback
I'll bite. It could be lots of things. Here are a few. Are the plugs relatively new & properly gapped. Did a plug wire break during installation? I had these symptoms once and a plug wire was the culprit. Did a spark plug break during installation?
I'd give techron or another fuel treatment a go as well. Probably won't be the fix, but not expensive and can't hurt.
I'm tempted to go on about the possible causes of a starting difference between cold and hot, but for me, that wasn't the key to the fix.
