Well let me get in this thread as this will turn into a **** storm. I buy alot of stuff off ebay and have no issues with some parts like a intake, filter, fan, bov, etc etc. Now things like cams, turbos, superchargers etc etc I would purchase from a legit vendor. As far as this cam who knows unless someone has some numbers on it around here. I know some of you guys know the name brand HKS or HK$ in the import world. Well a company called ffwd connection basically mirrored(copied/cut) the HKS cams and named them their DKS cams. They offer the same exact specs as the HKS cams but at a fraction of the cost. Same reliability same specs, performance, etc etc but they are regrinds. Maybe this is the same concept that the ebay vendor is doing or maybe not.
Yes you can regrind a cam. In most cases all it does is change your push rod length. The idea of a cam , in simple terms, is to supply a low point and high point for both valves to open and close based on piston location in its 360 degree cycle.
Now that being said, this is probably the "darkest" science there is in engine performance, so don't skimp here. Go with the best.
Gaskets and tuning alone for a cam swap will cost you close to a grand, so why would you try to save $300 bucks here?
An extra $100 spend in the design of a great cam, machined to the correct specs, which doesn't always happen, can save you thousands in future $$ trying to make your car faster.
Don't buy a cam from ebay. Just spend the 3-400 bucks and get one from a good reputable shop. Cartek verifies their cams, and they told me they have gotten cams in with a 117 LSA that was supposed to be a 114 LSA. Never hurts to be safe.
Seen many cams reground (work in cam shop), depending on how deep it was heat treated and how much of that was ground off first time (our H8620 are milled with in .010 and heat treated .080 deep) and how much heat treat is left after second grind is a unknown. Its is possible, the only thing that changes is the base circle Dia. (longer push rod as stated above.)
Maybe it would be like doing a $2 Haitian hooker, might be fun.
just curious, thanks for all of the info, for anyone else who is curious, I emailed a few of his previous buyers, one said it's his second one and that it sounds and works great but will need longer pushrods and stronger springs, one said that he hasn't installed it yet and it will be another two months but visual inspection checks out ok, and I am waiting for the other to get back with me. I too have had much success with buying parts for my corvette from ebay (ported throttle bodies (2), cold air intake etc...) but I just thought it was kinda weird that my searches both here and on ls1tech didn't yield many results, Thank you again!
if a cam only has .555 lift and 224 duration, how do you make it a .585 with 232 duration.
Couldn't you only make it smaller?
you couldn't add material like welding in a combustion chamber of a head could you?
I wouldn't do it without some explanation of the process. I mean where did the cam come from in the first place? was it new or used then had to be reground?
can you imagine a cam breaking in your engine? it would be lights out.
I love ebay, but I would never buy a reground cam there.

I just got a cam from a reputable vendor here and discovered that it was 4° off when I degreed it. I split the difference and retarded it 2°.
