Does performing the drill mod on the clutch slave cylinder allow a great volume of fluid into the slave, thus extending the slave cylinder a greater overall distance?
the distance the slave travels doesn't change at all.
I've done the drill mod and didn't feel any difference, then i put the stock slave back in and didn't feel any difference. Now I have the drill mod back in and it still doesn't feel any different. car is apart again and I swapped in another brand new slave, for good measure, w/o the drill mod and I'm sure there will be no difference again.
one thing to keep in mind, while you may drill out the line to the slave cylinder, the diameter of the hole inside the slave, that the fluid has to travel threw, does not change at all.
Drilling out the slave was an old trick that was thought to help improve the hydraulic response. Internet myth maybe. I never saw any concrete evidence that it helped. Most people and vendors now recommend simply installing the stock hydraulics without the drill mod. Personally I have never done the drill mod and have yet to have a hydraulic issue. Clutches on the other hand, well thats a different story.
