i have just bought my first vette and i am a newbie to this board ( but not to life in general i like to think . . . i'm 35 :-> )
just wanted to say hi to all. name is Mike . . . car is a 2001 millenium yellow coupe ( as u can probably guess from my handle on
the board :-> ) loaded with everything but the kitchen sink. chose the matching yellow roof rather than the black one, and the
polished aluminum wheels.
there is not a lot i want to add to the car . . . maybe a bit of a heavier tint to the glass and a couple of other small things . . .
but one thing i'm pretty sure it needs are red brake calipers . . . like on the Z06. so, and you'll have to excuse me if this point is
addressed elsewhere in the forum, but i wanting the board members' advice as to the best internet website to purchase such an
item. by "best" i mean most reliable service-wise, as well as price-wise, though price is secondary to service. i've done quite a
bit of searching and while i have seen a few sites, they tend to carry a lot of stock for older generation corvettes, and i was
wondering if anyone knows of a site that handles mostly C5 stuff . . . like the red calipers as well as simple things like nice
keychains or front plates. sorry if this is a bit of a newbie question :-)
thx in advance bros . . . and happy holidays to the board owner(s), moderators, and members. all the best in 2002.
:)
I purchased my Z06 calipers on the C5 parts for sale section of this board. Got a great deal. Many of the vendors which are listed to the right of this post have them also. Their all pretty competitively priced. Eric
Hey Now:
Congrats on the new ride and welcome to the forum. :seeya As stated above, the forum merchants on the left can not be beat. I have purchased many items from Exit 28 Motorsports. Their service and price are very good. Check them out.
Re: New Owner . . . New Board Member (Austrian Vette)
welcome to the vette family
Until today, I only know 1 forum member and friend who hasnt done any mods
to his y2k yellow coupe (since new),maybe gives you a few months and ideas will flow into your mine, but, enjoy mod-ding.
I thought this would have been mentioned by this point in the thread, but it is much less expensive to just paint the calipers that you have. There is no difference between your calipers and the Z06 calipers except the color. I painted the ones on my 2000 FRC using Sunrise Red Rust-O-Leum and it held up very well. Many Vette owners on the forum have also done this with great results. It's a bit of work to paint them, but total cost for me was less than $10.
Welcome from another "newbie". As to doing mods, I'm sure you will soon change your mind. A very effective and reasonably priced mod, would be; 2002 Z06 upper air box cover and K&N filter.

I agree with this. I also used rustoleum. Works great, and you can even hand paint them without taking them off the car.
