Default Anyone run this cam?

I was talking with Thunder Racing about a cam install and he reccomended there "Reverse Split" cam. The #'s on it are 230/224 .575/.563 111 LSA. Just wanting to know if anyone on here has ran this cam before or know anyone than has. He said this cam would be good for what I want. Good HP and good Toque gains. THANKS

IIRC, I seen a few people using that cam. It is fairly mild, but will have a bit of lope to it. With a good set of heads, and a proper exhaust expect around 410rwhp on an automatic. You have a 99FRC, so I would suggest you get an LS6 Intake to go with it.

O.K thanks. I already have the LS-6 intake. I also have supermaxx headers, magnaflow exshaust, Halltech Stinger air intake, Hi-Flow CATS and H-pipe, and 4.10 rear. He told me I should be able to put down about 390 to 400 RWHP with cam alone and good tune. Heads will be coming next year.

What do you want out of the car? Midrange power or peak power (4,000 rpm +), The more duration and lift the more its going to peak in power UP TOP, a good DD cam will be somewhere around a 222-226 duration. My vette is not a DD so I went big 233/239

Its a weekend car, but I dont wont it to shake to pieces. I dont mind some shaking but nothing to wild. And I do love the sounds of a nice cam so I need that. How do you think the TR cam I mentioned will perform?

You might want to run a higher LSA if you are concerned about idle. A good tuner should be able to make it idle reasonably well, but if you are not sure go higher...114LSA is easy to make idle smoothly.

There is a ton of info on that cam at LS1 tech, use the search tool, type TR230/224. From what I've read the reverse-split are better if you are staying w/stock heads and have a good exhaust set-up. If you are planning on upgrading heads you may want to stay with a traditional split.

You need to choose the heads you're going to end up with and go with a cam that is a good mate for it. Suffer the difference in the mean time, but you will have a better setup in the end.

I have an MTI X1 which is similar to the TR230 you mentioned. My peak numbers aren't astounding but I make over 350rwtq from 2,500-6,500 which is power you will feel on the street. The car drives like stock after my tune from Vengeance. I think I can make 440-450rwhp with a ported FAST. My dyno sheet is in my signature.
