Default Burned-out window motor

Hey guys, I could use some help with replacing the passenger power window motor of a 2000 coupe. I have it all taken apart and removed the old motor from the regulator. I have confirmed that the old motor was bad and the new motor works properly. However, I cannot get the new motor to seat all the way back into the regulator. The GM service manual only shows replacing the the entire system (window rails, regulator and motor). I was told that if the motor is bad, it is a simple replacement. It has been simple until I had to put the new one back in.

If anyone knows what I have to do to get the new motor seated properly into the regulator, I sure would appreciate the help. Thanks.

Yes, it will be simple until you get to the motor replacement. All the window places I talked with said to just replace the motor is an almost impossible task and the few who are capable of doing it will NOT do it. You will be better off just to get the entire regulator assembly and install that as a whole. Good Luck!

I tried that once but would not recommend it.
To get the motor back into the gear drive assembly, you will need to take the cover off and remove the drive gear so the gear on the motor can slip into the housing. Then you can put the nylon gear back in and try to get the drive cables back into the drive pulley correctly. Not an easy job. Check all the cables to make sure they are in perfect condition so you don't have to do the job all over again in a few months. If the old motor shaft slipped out too easily, then you may have a stripped drive gear inside. I would open it up and check it to make sure.
I would just spend the extra money and replace the whole assembly. It saves a lot of aggrivation.
