I have a 99 Corvette with a cranky remote FOB transmitter. It's only working intermitantly. Why?
I replaced the battery in my FOB transmitter, and followed the instructions in the owners manual detailing how to "re-syncronize" the FOB and "re-learn" with the key in the ignition.
The transmitter works for about an hour. After which, it doesn't work anymore. When I repeat the whole precess, it works again...For about an hour!???
I assume that you dont have 2 fobs,to eliminate the possibility of a faulty one...I have found that some keyless receiver/modules are sensitive to cold weather...It is cold up there, isnt it??? :D
I had the same problem except mine would hold synchronization for only 5 minutes. If your other remote works ok then you have one defective remote. Mine was replaced under warranty, so far no more problems.
I had the same problem but my key fob didn't work at all. I brought both into the dealership and within 5 minutes they synched up two new fobs and I was out the door.
I think any dealership would do the same under warranty.
Mine never works when it's cold (below 30 degrees) after it's been sitting all night. I have to use the key to unlock the door. Been doing for the last 2 years, I have just never gotten around to having it fixed.
My key fob for a 2001 Vette will lock the doors but not unlock them.Replaced the battery but still the same. When I try to syncronize the remote outside the car,it never beeps .I hold the lock and unlock for about 15 seconds but nothing. Can anybody help me ?

You know you just tagged on to a 10 year old thread?
You can try taking the remote apart and cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser.
Open the remote, pop the circuit board out, the buttons are molded into a solid rubber piece that comes off the circuit board. Under the buttons there are 4 contacts, rub them with an eraser until they are shiny. Put it back together and see if it works. If not I would just replace the remote.
One fob on my 99 did the same thing, except that it would hold sync for about 24 hrs. Replaced it with a new 2000 fob, since I never used the passive mode function anyway.
