It's hot down here in Texas!!! For the last week or so my outside temp sensor has been reading "69 degrees" - I wish - but I guess it picked a good number for us dirty old men. A/C works fine. Any experience with this problem or any ideas b4 I start buying parts? Oh - it's an '02 Z06.
Thanks
I've never had this problem with my Vette, but had a similar problem with my Grand Prix. I replaced the sensor. It is under the nose of the Vette on the right side. The Pontiac part was about $6. I have no idea on whether or not GM will charge more for the Vette part.
The reading will default ot 69 if the controller loses contact with the sensor(i.e. unplugged, corrosion, bad connection). Odds are you have a B0333 code. Unless your sensor just happened to land on 69 when it crapped out. You need to check the connections at the sensor and make sure they are clean and tight. If that doesn't do it, the sensor is #10248414, about $10 at the dealer. If you replace the sensor, you will need to drive a mile or so for the HVAC controller to recognize the new sensor.
Thanks to all - the car only has 9100 sunshine mi - sure won't do any harm to chk the connection 1st though. Sounds like the kind of fix I like - SIMPLE & CHEAP!
Guys, my display is about 20~30 degrees below true outside temp and can't get cold air. I looked under the passenger headlight and saw two connectors going to a black box. Not sure what I am looking for. Any additional details would be greatly appreciated. I tried disconnecting the fuse, and that didn't work.

You're looking at the headlight control module, not the temp sensor. The sensor is straight down on the bottom of the nose of the car just inboard of the passenger headlight. The tip sticks into the radiator airflow cavity under the nose. Your problem sounds more likely due to low freon since you can't get cold AC.

the sensor will also cause no A/C if you have the automatic temp control (personal exp talking) if the sensor reads outside temp below 60 (I think) it will not allow the A/C comp to turn on.
clean the sensor contacts or replace the sensor (on mine I had to replace the connector as well due to corosion)
Thanks for the location info. I was looking directly below the headlamp, not on the floor of the nose. I also want to thank all the others that contributed to this post. I put the new sensor in and I have an accurate display reading now.
Next problem, I just noticed yesterday that my driver's side rear view mirror is loose. Any ideas on how to fix that without taking the door apart?
